Did this one for my project recently - not sure if we did it before in SotD. I know I didn't do it because I don't think it's that great!

Good stuff, except for "Jazz Discharge Party Hats," which I'm not crazy about either. I've heard Frank describe it as "George Benson if he did sprechsstimme," which is more interesting in theory than practice >_>

Song of Seventeen Days Ago: The Little House I Used to Live in + Aybe Sea (from Beat the Boots III: Disc Five)

(Actually, the version on Beat the Boots is slightly longer, but whatever.) A live cut from the '69 tour. Interestingly enough, the beginning of this version of "Little House" seems to be unique to this version - I don't recall hearing it anywhere else, at least. After a minute or so we get into the "Little House" we know and love, though. After a Frank guitar solo we get a short version of "Aybe Sea."

The title is reminiscent of "Canard Toujours," which was actually an early title for "Let's Move to Cleveland." Random bit of CC there.

Song of Eighteen Days Ago: Drowning Witch (from Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch)

In honor of my best friend's uncle telling me his favorite Zappa album is SATLTSADW the other day! Don't get me wrong, I like the album (it's not as outrageous as liking, say, Thing-Fish best), but that's still a pretty weird opinion...

Song of Nineteen Days Ago: Would You Go All the Way? (from Chunga's Revenge)

Did this one for my project today. Great song, contains some nice George Duke trombone playing.

I only recently found out that Mark and Howard came up with their Flo & Eddie aliases in the first place because at the time they weren't allowed to use their real names on a Zappa album because of some Turtles-related legal bullshit. Lol. (Of course "Freddie & Jo" in this song is a play on "Eddie & Flo.")

Song of Fifteen Days Ago: The Orange County Lumber Truck (from Weasels Ripped My Flesh)

Did this one for my project yesterday. Seems pretty obvious to me that this tune actually quotes the backwards "Don't come in me, in me" section from "Harry, You're a Beast" - in the Road Tapes, Venue #3 version Flo & Eddie actually sing the "Don't come in me, in me" lines during that part. Yet another thing I've never seen anyone point out, oddly enough!

Love the composed section of this version, BTW (it's taken from an unknown live peformance from the '69 tour). As far as the composed section goes, this is the most beautiful version of "Orange County" I've heard.

Song of Sixteen Days Ago: Variant I Processional March (bootleg)

Unfortunately the Wazoo version isn't on YT, but at least we do have this bootleg. An early version of what would become "Regyptian Strut." I only recently realised Frank had used the term "processional march" before this number - it also pops up in "Dwarf Nebula Processional March & Dwarf Nebula"!

Good stuff. "Dead Girls" actually was officially released several times (YCDTOSA Vol. 5, Buffalo) but those '80s versions are vastly inferior to the '70s ones, so yeah, I'd agree that it never got proper treatment.

This isn't really Let's Move to Cleveland so much as it is some random jazz stuff.

Well, it's the solos from "Let's Move to Cleveland." On the album that track is actually called "Let's Move to Cleveland Solos (1984)" - the uploader got it wrong.

Anyway, I like all of the ones you did.

Finally Wikipedia has an article for Chicago '78 (it's pretty terrible, but I guess that's par for the course for brand new articles). Now all they need is one for Little Dots and they'll have articles for the entire official catalog! (Worth noting that even Wiki Jawaka is missing articles for a number of the most recent releases.)

Song of Ten Days Ago: The Gumbo Variations (from Hot Rats)

Did this one for my project today. Another track that's different in the remixed version - compared to that version most of Ian Underwood's tenor saxophone solo is missing, but Frank's guitar solo is slightly longer here. Also, this version doesn't contain the short dialogue segment at the beginning and the start of the tune.

Just relistened to "Son of Mr. Green Genes" for my project, and while doing so I realized "Cletus Awreetus-Awrightus" obviously contains a motif from SOMGG. Kinda weird that I've never seen anyone point this out - does nobody pay attention when listening to Zappa music?! >_>
